Apple iPods are Taking Over

December 8th, 2009

Apple has created a cultural icon in a very short period of time. Resisting the iPod seems fruitless as more and more people are getting on board. Designed with the ability to store, playback and switch out various media, the iPod line has a number of products, each created for a specific audience. Whether you need to store pictures, videos, or music, there is an iPod for you.

The iPhone is now the largest selling mobile device of all time. Apple have beaten all previous cellular phone sales records with their amazing iPhone. This device can be used for much more than phone calls. it can access email, the internet, applications, and many more useful things. It has become an essential business tool, like a portable office, for many busy people.

The iPod Shuffle is designed strictly for musical mobility. Available in several memory sizes, you can get a Shuffle with a capacity of up to 4GB. With even more advancements, the newest iPod Shuffle is smaller, more compact, and can respond to voice commands. The earbuds are designed to perform multiple functions so that you can listen to your music and give voice commands as needed. They are a bit expensive to replace, and your iPod won’t interact without them, so treat them carefully. The newest iPod Shuffle identifies songs and tells you what you are going to hear.

The current generation of iPod Nano is the smallest and least expensive of the video versions. Available in 8GB and 16GB sizes, it can store between 2,000 and 4,000 songs or 8-16 hours worth of video. It has a long battery life and the Nano allows you to take it almost anywhere. The most interesting new feature is the ability of the unit to recognize when it is on its side and automatically adjust its picture. Shaking the iPod will cause it to advance to the next song in the playlist. Sleek and colorful, the iPod Nano is a favorite among youth.

With the greatest storage capacity, the iPod Classic is the granddaddy of the iPod world. Available only in a 120GB model, this iPod will hold up to 30,000 songs or 150 hours of video. Battery life and picture quality are important features of the iPod Classic, which makes it perfect if you have videos and music to take with you on vacation. This unit can hold every song in your library and still have room left for games and images because it is larger than the other IPods currently available.

The iPod Touch is the newest addition to the line. Similar to the iPhone, this unit lets the user interact through a touch screen. Available in 8, 16 and 32GB versions, this iPod is the pride of Apple’s iPod fleet. With the largest screen available in the line, this is the perfect choice for someone using an iPod predominantly for videos. Most people appreciate the versatility of the touch screen, but be sure you protect it with a cover; when the screen is scratched the unit loses effectiveness.

iPods are known for their reliability and functionality with several useful applications which can be added over time. It doesn’t matter which iPod you choose, you will be delighted with it.

MP3 Player

What you should look for when buying an MP3 player

Agreed that MP3 player manufacturers didn’t plan their products solely for audio books, but for music. However, it’s great that these days many people have begun to download audio books for listening on their MP3 players aswell.

The fact that they can carry around their MP3 players, instead of listening to audio books on the PCs make the players very popular.

If you’re not sure exactly what features you are looking for in an mp3 player, you may end up purchasing the wrong one.

Below are some of the factors to consider that will help you get the right MP3 for listening to your audio book:

1. Interruptions are annoying, so you must look for an mp3 player that can deal with this. Unlike music that you can start afresh when interrupted, it isn’t so much fun to have to start an audio book from the beginning after listening to it for up to 2 hours.

So, take your time to search for MP3 players that allow users to continue from the exact spot they stopped.

You can test the MP3 player before paying for it. If it works fine, then go ahead. If it doesn’t, search for another that does.

2. Ensure that the MP3 player’s volume is loud enough. In as much as you can use an earphone to listen to the MP3 player, it is ideal if the volume is loud enough to be listened to in a noisy surrounding.

You should always be able to listen to your mp3 player without headphones if you choose to. If you’re caught up in traffic and you don’t have your earphones, a good sound that you can still hear without the headphones is vital.

3. A large memory capacity is vital when searching for an mp3 player. Since you would be storing your audio book in the MP3 player, you should purchase the one that has enough memory for audio books of up to 5 hours or more.

For best value, get the MP3 players that have both flash memory and memory card.

4. The smaller an MP3 player is, the more attractive it looks. Style isn’t everything though, so make sure you don’t give up quality or durability.

5. You should always purchase an mp3 player which has been made by a reputable company. I definitely wouldn’t recommend buying an mp3 player just because it is cheap. Many poor quality mp3 players are made in Asian countries. Many of these are not worth buying.

Journey’s in your car can also now be more pleasurable, as many car manufacturers have started to build in the capability to connect your mp3 player to the car stereo. If you don’t have this in your car, you could use an AUX socket to connect your mp3 player.

As an audiobook lover myself, an excellent source that I have found for audio book downloads is Spoken Network. You can find them at:
