Dad buys Sat Nav

November 25th, 2009

A brand new gadget has hit the car of the man of the house and it comes in the form of a Sat Nav. He was perhaps a bit lucky as he managed to pick it up through his company, we have had several problems with the product though.

The product itself is fantastic, a brilliant idea for someone who doesn’t want to constantly pull over and read a map or listen to the wife telling you the wrong directions. The trouble is however that there are times where the Sat Nav is wrong and will lead you onto the wrong road and then shout at you for going the wrong way. On one occassion the crazy contraption tried to lead us into a road that wasnt even there.

Another issue with the product is that it is being used for the simplest of trips and because you are busy waiting for the voice to say “turn left” or “speed camera” it actually ends up taking longer than it would without it. I

The Sat Nav can be useful if you are on you way into another country. Sometimes it can be nice to hear directions from a person who speaks english when you are abroad and providing it points you in the right direction it can be useful for that.

Replacing them is not easy either which is why some form of Sat Nav Insurance will need to be taken out to avoid nasty replacement costs. Of course you could get gadget insurance as this actually sets out to cover you against other things like phones and games consoles. It is not always necesscary to take out that extra mobile phone insurance

Look After Your Mobile Phone

October 10th, 2009

We never think it will happen to us, and then it does. In my case this has happened twice. I am, of course, talking about losing my mobile phone.

The first time I lost my valuable mobile was due to too many beers on a boys night out. Thinking back I was using my mobile phone on my way home and must have left it on the back seat of the taxi. The following morning, when I realized what had happened, I called the cab firm only to hear that my phone had not been found. It was suddenly painfully clear how much of my life was actually stored on my little mobile telephone.

I vowed that I would be far more careful in future and get myself some mobile phone insurance to cover the cost of replacement. The expense was actually the last thing on my mind as I’d lost a whole load of important telephone numbers and contact details that weren’t stored anywhere else.

Everybody does it. We run into an old friend and we immediately input their contact details into our telephones and don’t think about transferring those details to our computers or some sort of backup device, like an address book.

The second time I lost my mobile phone was on another night out but this time I wasn’t the worse for drink. I was convinced that a pickpocket had lifted my mobile from my pocket in the nightclub. It’smore likely that I dropped it on the floor when getting some cash from my pocket at the bar. I told the club staff but my new phone never turned up.

Unfortunately I had not taken out the mobile phone insurance policy that I’d said I would. But my experience the last time I’d lost my phone had led to my making note of most of the contact details on my phone.

Is there a moral to this tale? Maybe a small one. But I recommend that you routinely backup all of the contact details stored on your phone and get yourself some insurance cover.
