How To Fix Computer Errors In 15 Minutes?

September 8th, 2009

This article outlines simple pragmatic steps to resolve many of the root causes of computer errors. Readers will usually need to set aside only 15 minutes for each recommendation.

Most Common Computer Errors - Computers have brought dramatic changes in our day to day lives, yet like any machine, they need regular maintenance and upgrade. Many tasks required to fix computer errors and prevent various computer errors are actually very simple.

In the majority of cases, errors exist in the EXE, DLL and driver files. These occur as a result of invalid and corrupt registry entries. These files are essential as they are referenced in the registry and used by the computer to function correctly. An unstable or damaged registry creates random responses and this significantly slows down the computer.

Run Defragmenter - To begin with, run a disk defragmenter. This operation reorganizes the content of the disk to store the many parts of each file closer together and contiguously.Defragmenter use compaction to create large areas of free space on the hard drive and this means that the computer can find information faster with less errors overall.

Registry Scan - In order to fix computer errors in the registry, it is also advisable to complete periodic registry scans, as this enables unwanted data to be detected and subsequently deleted. This operation can be done easily using any popular registry fixing software. Many software can clean registries and also undertake registry maintenance tasks, for example delete undesirable malware such as viruses and spyware, and also backup, scan, repair and the registry, in addition many can also defragment the hard disk. Remove Spyware and Viruses - Spyware and virus programs create most of the computer errors. Computer viruses are malevolent software, which can also reduce computer response time. By contrast, spyware copy malicious programs onto the computer and this code is subsequently executed to steal confidential data. Often this code is later transmitted for further malicious use. A common sense approach is the best guarantee to fix computer errors due to viruses or spyware and this entails updating any anti-virus and anti-spyware tools. Fix Boot Sector - Faulty programs, in addition to virus infections can also damage computer boot sectors, and this can prevent the system from booting. Some errors occur when booting up the computer, the most pragmatic step to fix these errors is usually to use the operating system booting CD provided with your computer. For instance, XP users can use the relevant operating system to repair the Windows installation.

Upgrade Your RAM – Insufficient memory is another source of errors, which can lead to various computer problems. Many of these issues lead to either individual software or the whole the computer crashing, hanging, restarting suddenly, and of course the dreaded “blue screen”. Fixing computer errors that relate to memory can often be achieved with freeware, which help resolve RAM and related issues. These software tools greatly improve computer performance and are also very easy to use. Testing the memory of the computer is also recommended in that event.

Four Rules To Eliminate Adware!

September 7th, 2009

Adware should be eliminated - Adware are software often designed to display ads, which frequently reduce computer speed and cause further issues. They adversely impact computer response times by using RAM and PCU resources and often reducing the speed of any internet connection. This article provides guidance, which anyone can follow to remove adware from any system.

Rule 1: Use Adware remover software - Our recommended solution is simply to use an adware removal software and follow some simple steps to prevent undesirable adware installation on your computer. Try free Adware removal programs versions first - It is generally easy to try adware removal programs free. This it is a great way to test whether a program meets your expectations and also test the quality of the service provided by any customer service. Rule 2: Avoid P2P- It usually pays to be cautious with the programs you download from the internet. For instance programs delivered using Peer to Peer network (Peer to Peer/ P2P programs) should generally be avoided. In practice many of these programs leave computers open to virus threats, by often installing adware or their hard drives. Since P2P are commonly used to share multimedia content, this restriction is a challenge for many user. You should make a conscious decision on whether or not to use Peer to Peer networks, and in that event use a popular adware removal program soon after downloading any file from any P2P network in order to eliminate any adware.

Rule 3: Be wary of unpromted emails – Another good habit is to prevent adware being downloaded on your system by not opening emails from unknown senders, this is particularly recommended for emails with attachments. It is also worth remembering that if a message “feels” to good to be true and it probably is, hitting “Delete” may be the smartest move in that event. Click on how to remove spyware for more information

Rule 4: Disable cookies - Unless you know and trust the site you are browsing, you should disallow cookies. Cookies were initially designed for sites to recognise their visitors, the problem is now that they also allow adware, including spyware, which are programmed to transmit personal information about you to third parties.

How to optimise computer performance in 15 minutes or less

September 6th, 2009

This article describes simple steps that anyone can follow to rapidly speed up their computer. Implementing step 1 or step 2 should take no more than 15 minutes and will work for both PC and Mac users.

Step 1 -  Clean the computer registry

Slow computers often have errors in their registry. The registry is similar to the nervous system of the computer and its function is to connect software hardware and computer files. Over time, errors occur and this slows down computers, frequently their registry become corrupted. A simple step is therefore to locate then fix registry errors. Despite the fact that it is possible to repair the registry manually in theory, this method is not recommended. The main reason for this, is that it requires strong knowledge of the structure of the registry as well as its functions. Registry repair software are usually fast and reliable and offer overall, a better alternative to correct errors, delete unused files, poor links and deal with ActiveX components. Click on fix computer registry for more information.

Step 2 – Delete and block adware and spyware

Another common reason leading to computers slowing-down, is the large number of spyware and adware, which are downloaded from the Internet, often without the users knowledge. Typically this occurs when downloading videos, music or other files from peer to peer (P2P) networks. A straightforward solution to improve the speed of any computer is to use an anti spyware or adware program to scan, remove then block adware and spyware. In order to try out the right anti spyware or adware program, it is preferable to use a trial version which is usually free. Among the key features to consider are Ease of Download and Simplicity of Use, Automatic Backup, Quality of Customer Service, and of course the overall effectiveness of the software. The best software tend to be the simplest to use and rely on a research capability that constantly updates the software for new threats. Click on best adware spyware removal for more information.

Step 3 – Eliminate viruses

Unsurprisingly many computer viruses can slow down computers and drive down response times. The problem with many viruses is not only the damage they cause to computer files but also the amount of resources which they use and waste, for example RAM and disk space. Running the latest version of some of the leading anti-virus software should overcome these problems and users who do so will be in a stronger position to improve the performance of their computer.

Step 4 – Simple housekeeping tasks

There are many simple housekeeping tasks which can be done to improve the speed of any computer, for example uninstalling any software that is not needed.  Stopping programs launching automatically is also useful to speed up any computer and is usually very straightforward. These simple tasks generally produce marginal improvements.

Step 5 – Optimise the Hard disk

For hard disks which are smaller than 2GB then at least 200MB of disk should be kept free and at least 500MB for larger hard disks. This freed up space is an important factor of computer speed as it is used by temporary files which software require to work effectively. This also enables the operating system to swap files using the hard disk as it runs out of RAM. In that event, unless sufficient  space is free on the hard disk, the system slows down significantly. Disk scanning programs such as Scandisk for Windows , can also help check for errors on the hard disk itself. For instance, your hard disk may be large enough but too fragmented and some disk sectors may have been damaged. Running a defragmentation program is another step that can be completed to improve  the speed of any computer.

Step 6 – Optimising the RAM

Some programs are poorly designed and do not release RAM resources after they are closed. Other programs have less memory to run as a result. Computers frequently run out of RAM after a while. In order to overcome this, ugrading the RAM is probably necessary. Alternatively running certain programs simultaneously should also be avoided, this option is of course free.

Step 7 – Stop the computer from overheating

Faulty fans are a common cause leading to the computer overheating, slowing down then freezing as a result. Installing a new fan is the best solution to overcome this problem, as this increases the air flow through the computer thereby reducing the machine’s temperature and improving its performance.
