They have recently launched a new service that will link you to all your friends who have the same technology and show you on a map where they all are. You’ll be happy to know that people have to opt in for this service so people cannot just see where you are automatically, although caution is still advised.

There was a dilemma faced by parents up and down the country when mobile phones finally arrived on the mass markets. It was obvious that allowing children access to a mobile phone could be very beneficial in terms of staying in touch with them and finding out if they are OK. Simply by enabling anyone and everyone to be reachable and to reach out, mobile phones have prevented many potentially dangerous situations and minimised the harm of many others. As mobile phones start to get more functions and become ever more interactive, their usefulness in terms of safety is elevated and will continue to be so.

The first time I lost my valuable mobile was due to too many beers on a boys night out. Thinking back I was using my mobile phone on my way home and must have left it on the back seat of the taxi. The following morning, when I realized what had happened, I called the cab firm only to hear that my phone had not been found.It was suddenly painfully clear how much of my life was actually stored on my little mobile telephone.
